Celebrate your birthday at JMDC and make memories that will last a lifetime! With many Birthday Expeditions to choose from, you are guaranteed a memorable experience for all. Each Birthday Expedition package includes a private 40-minute guided program with a fun-filled hands-on activity for up to 50 youth Explorers, three-hour access to a birthday party venue, picnic tables, plus one hour for set-up and one hour for clean-up, four parking passes for the birthday party family, and a $10.00 gift certificate for the birthday Explorer. Expedition Party Package #1 – Party with the Dinosaurs
The perfect party for the Rockhounder in your life. Through hands-on participation, Explorers discover identifying factors for some of the rocks and minerals we use every day. Next is a walk through the gardens. Your Party Expedition Guide will stop at the JMDC dinosaurs along the way sharing interesting dinosaur facts. Once your group reaches Dino Mesa, Birthday Explorers are set loose in our collection area to discover twelve rock, mineral or fossil specimens of their choice to take home.
Expedition Party Package #2 – Diggin’ the Dinosaurs
A party for the future paleontologist or dinosaur enthusiast. Party Explorers will hike through the gardens where they will learn about the dinosaurs from their Party Expedition Leader. Upon arrival at the dig site, Explorers will learn the proper technique for excavating a fossil and then try their hand at uncovering a mock Allosaurus skeleton. At the end each Explorer will be given a small dinosaur toy skeleton souvenir to take home.

Expedition Party Package #3 – Strike it Rich! Gold Panning
Return to the days of early California with this wild west birthday adventure. Party Explorers will travel back to the Gold Rush Days of California. Hear stories about the gold rush, learn panning techniques, then strike out to find some gold. Keep the gems and minerals you discover.
Expedition Party Package #4 – Meet the Critters
Your Party Expedition Leader and one of our Critter Wranglers will introduce you to several of our Critters, which include Pythons, Snakes, Lizards, Chameleons, Turtles, Madagascar cockroaches, etc. Discover how these Critters live in their native environment. Party Explorers will see the Critters up close and take pictures with them! Many of the Critters can be handled.
