Eddy the Columbian Mammoth

His name is Edward, but his friends call him Eddy. Eddy the Columbian Mammoth is one of the most beloved attractions at the Jurupa Mountains Discovery Center (JMDC). Standing as a life-sized replica of the massive prehistoric creature that once roamed this region, Eddy helps visitors imagine what life was like during the Ice Age. He serves as both an educational and inspiring figure for guests of all ages, sparking curiosity about Earth’s ancient past, paleontology, and the natural history of Southern California. Whether you’re exploring the trails or learning about fossils, Eddy is a must-see symbol of discovery at JMDC.

A large rust-colored mammoth sculpture stands on a rocky hill under a blue sky with wispy clouds.

Built by artist Klaus Duebbert, Eddy is a tribute to a pair of mammoth tusks found in the Mira Loma area of Jurupa Valley.
